About the Event
The MGS Strategic Learning Forum (SLF) is a platform for museum and gallery learning practitioners to work collaboratively to improve learning provisions in the Scottish museum and heritage sector. The forum events are a valuable contact point between strategic-level education policy areas and museum professionals engaged in learning roles; Opportunity for members to discuss updates and explore emerging themes in learning and engagement, to network and share best practice.
Considering the demands on museum budgets and other competing priorities in our organisations, it is crucial for museum and heritage learning practitioners to be good at advocating for their work within their organisations and externally to stakeholders, funders, and the local community.
Organised in partnership with GEM, the forum will discuss the importance of advocacy and explore many ways to advocate for education and learning provision in their organisations’ ensuring support for their work and the positive benefit it gives to participants and audiences.
Our guest speaker is Elena Trimarchi, Learning and Engagement Manager, David Livingstone Trust who will talk about advocacy practice at the David Livingstone Trust.
Katey Boal, National Trust Scotland for GEM will lead the discussion session.
There will also be opportunity to share the Museums Galleries Scotland Museums and Education Impact Report published earlier this year.
