About the Event

Take part in a facilitated Zoom session as part of Museums Galleries Scotland’s national consultation on how museums can contribute to our understanding of the legacies of chattel slavery, empire, and colonialism.

This session is specifically for those working in the Scottish heritage sector, who mostly work front of house or public facing (include those working in retail or catering, security, or other functions). The session lasts 90 minutes. As this session is out of hours ALL focus group participants will be compensated at Real Living Wage, a rate of £9.50/hour (this can be paid via vouchers where needed).

The goal of these sessions is:

1. To understand where participants are in terms of addressing the legacies of slavery, empire, and colonialism in their spaces and through their collections;

2. To explore what training, systems, standards, or other supports might need to be put into place in order to help museums, galleries, and heritage sites to embrace anti-racist practice.

Absolutely no preparation or knowledge is required for this session. The focus group will be run online using Mentimeter; participation in this online platform is anonymous.
