About the Event
‘The structure of the session and its content guided us through the process for recruiting, supporting and managing apprentices, and helped us better understand things we could do differently to help us reach out to more diverse candidates.’ Alex Howard, HR Partners and Projects Manager, Arts Council England
Managers who are new to apprenticeships may have lots of questions about them. This session is for those who are new to managing apprentices, or those who would like to refresh their understanding:
- Understanding apprenticeships - what they are/aren't, the responsibilities of the employer versus the training provider, apprenticeship Standards / Frameworks and how to select the most appropriate one for your role
- Recruiting apprentices - things to consider when reaching out to those who may be new to the world of work: job descriptions, shortlisting, best practice approaches to recruitment and interview
- Working with young people, safeguarding, and working with training providers
Please note that whilst the content of this training is relevant for anyone who is new to employing and/or managing apprentices, this session includes content that is more focused on how to support new entrants through apprenticeships, rather than using apprenticeships to up-skill existing staff.
This session is part of Creative & Cultural Skills series of Fair Access Sector Support training which has been tailored specifically for Scotland’s cultural sector, funded by Creative Scotland. It’s designed for anyone considering working with apprentices and is accompanied by a Manager’s Guide to Apprenticeships.
Tickets: This is a free event for employers working in the cultural sector in Scotland. Tickets must be booked through Eventbrite.
