About the Event

Collections backlogs are a regular fact of daily collections work for many museums, but working through them can be laborious, time consuming and isolating.

Come along to MGS to hear more about how certain museums holding Nationally Significant Collections have worked through their own backlogs and conducted collection reviews. Discuss your own approaches to tackling backlogs with others and develop your ideas and approaches with museums facing similar challenges. The workshop will include presentations from Nico Tyack (Collections Information Officer at Edinburgh Museums), Jo Clements (Curator, Groam House Museum) and Rhona Rodger (Senior Collections Officer at Culture Perth and Kinross).

The second half of the workshop will involve a visit to Edinburgh Museums’ Collections Centre to learn about these approaches in action.
