Queer Family Friendliness in Museums and Heritage

Event information

Date: 9th December

Time: 10am to 12:30pm

Organiser: Queer Heritage and Collections Network (QHCN)

Museums and heritage organisations have been considering what it means to be family friendly for many years. Queer families have often remained on the edges of these programmes, projects and developments. More recently, some people have sought to place queer engagement activities in opposition to the needs of families in some cultural spaces. This session will bring together heritage practitioners and community voices to explore what it means for museums and heritage organisations to be queer family friendly.

Chaired by Rachael Lennon.

Presentations by and Matt Taylor-Roberts (Proud 2 b Parents), Margaret Middleton and Vicky Iglikowski-Broad & Amy Marr (The National Archives), and with additional input from Lauryn Etheridge (English Heritage).
